Devournal is one developer sharing what worked. Read it as a well-informed peer's notes, not as a guarantee.

Educational, not authoritative

Everything published here is for information and learning. The techniques come from my own projects and reflect trade-offs that fit those projects; your engine, platform, language version and constraints differ. Treat each post as a starting point to test against your own situation, not a rule to apply blindly.

Code is provided as-is

The source samples and downloadable project files are teaching code, written to be clear rather than production-hardened. They come with no warranty of any kind — no promise that they're bug-free, secure, performant on your hardware, or fit for a particular purpose. Review, test, and adapt anything before it goes near a shipping build. To the extent the law allows, I'm not liable for damage, data loss, or lost time arising from using them. You use them at your own judgment.

No guaranteed outcome

Reading Devournal won't guarantee you a job, a finished game, or a faster frame time. Those depend on your practice and your project. I share methods that have helped me and others; results are yours to earn.

Not a game of chance

Despite the word "game" throughout, Devournal is about building video games as software. Nothing here runs on luck or on money riding on a result. There are no wagers, no prizes, no cash outcomes, and no mechanic where you risk money hoping to get more back. It's a developer's writing about code, and nothing more.

Prices and content change

Membership prices, plan features and article content can change over time as the blog evolves. I keep this site current, but details may occasionally lag. External tools and links I mention are outside my control and may move or change without notice. For anything that matters to a decision, confirm it with me directly at [email protected].
