Devournal runs lean. There's no advertising network here and no cross-site tracking — just two small cookies, and one of them is optional.

What a cookie is here

A cookie is a tiny text value your browser stores for a site. Devournal uses them for exactly two jobs, both listed below. There are no third-party marketing cookies, no fingerprinting, and nothing that follows you to other sites.

The essential one

When you answer the cookie banner, that choice is saved locally so the banner doesn't nag you every visit. This is strictly functional — it can't identify you and it's needed for the banner to behave. It stays until you clear your browser storage.

The optional one

If you choose "Allow", a lightweight analytics cookie lets me count which posts get read, in aggregate. It answers questions like "did the ECS article land?" and never "who is this person?". Choose "Essential only" on the banner and this one is never set. You lose nothing as a reader either way.

Turning them off

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies. In Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge, open settings, find privacy or site data, and clear or restrict cookies for this site. Doing so simply means the banner reappears on your next visit and no reading count is recorded — the notebook and your membership work exactly the same.

Fonts and hosting

The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which may log the request to serve the file, and it runs on standard web hosting that keeps basic server logs for security.
